I love when my CSA basket tells me what to have for dinner. As I was driving home from pick up in the rain, I thought of all the soups I could make. Potato soup sounded good, but I didn’t have any potatoes. I wondered if I had any recipes for turnip soup in my cookbook collection? Luckily I found one in the first book I picked up.
If it’s possible to love an appliance, then I’m smitten with my pressure cooker. Forgot to put something in the slow cooker in the morning, and it’s almost time for dinner? No problem with a pressure cooker!
This is another recipe I found in James Beard’s American Cookery, this one combining a vegetable I have trouble figuring out what to do with (turnips) with something I LOVE (mushrooms). Best of all, it’s super easy.
This recipe is adapted from The Art of Simple Food: Notes, Lessons, and Recipes from a Delicious Revolution. As much as I don’t want it to be winter yet, I was able to use mostly produce from last week’s CSA pickup.
