It’s not one of the four essential sauces, but this past weekend I went to a cooking demo at The Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor, MI. There, I learned how to make Bolognese (meat sauce) from an actual Italian chef!

When I was typing up the remaining recipes from Simply in Season, I came across this recipe and decided to try to make homemade mac & cheese.

Pesto is a very forgiving sauce. You can substitute any herb for the basil, nuts or bread for the pine nuts. And, it’s so much cheaper to make it yourself than buy it from the store! I wish you could smell it while it was chopping. Mmmm.

Next to asparagus, rhubarb is my favorite springtime vegetable. Growing up I’d eat it straight from my Grandma’s garden. She made THE BEST rhubarb sauce. Would this recipe from Simply in Season compare?
