I’m slowly but surely figuring out where I want to put things. I’m also remembering the way that my dad used to plant the family garden when I was little.
My New Front Yard Garden

Cooking and cooking-related posts took a backseat this long weekend as I had a brand new front yard garden installed. DH thinks I’m crazy, and I haven’t been this sore since I wed onions as a child, but I am loving the new conversations with neighbors.

You might be wondering what happened to my garden while I was away for 2 1/2 weeks in Uganda. Well, DH did manage to keep it alive–thanks honey! However, it was a bit overgrown.

Another $100 for lumber later, we now have 4 more beds. The photo above is of last year’s, which I cleaned up on Saturday and planted with peas, carrots, lettuce, kale, and the Asian stir fry mix. Those little seeds are buggers! Hoping I can thin them out later.

DH is such a sweetie! He put in a garden bed for me this weekend and also helped fence in the garden area to keep the bunnies out. The bunnies have eaten my beets and carrots but the peas survived. The bag garden is working well for them, but after the peas are finished we’ll take them out and put a more permanent bed in.
