Beer Cheese Soup

I love it when DH gets inspired in the kitchen. Yesterday, he wanted to make beer cheese soup. It turned out delicious!

Drunken Asparagus with Feta and Prosciutto

DH came up with this recipe after we saw something similar at a local restaurant. The challenge was a homebrew party where you had to either make something with beer or pair it with beer. This recipe did both, and won 3rd place (as judged by Michigan Beer Blog).

Troy’s Oatmeal

While surfing the web, DH discovered a few oatmeal recipes that called for an egg, to up the protein as well as make it more creamy. Since then he has been tinkering, and I think this recipe is about as perfect as it can get.

How to Roast a Yardbird {Dark Days Challenge}

I thawed out a chicken from my local farmer in anticipation of this week’s Dark Days Challenge meal. DH wanted to try brining it since he claims my crock pot version turns out too dry. “Store chickens have all that stuff injected in it,” he said, “so I want to experiment and see if I can get a free range chicken more moist.”

Barbeque Rib Sauce

When the Culinary Arts College at Baltimore International College invited me to test one of their recipes, I knew as soon as I saw it that I would get DH to try the Barbeque Rib Sauce. There’s nothing like DH’s smoked ribs, but I’ve often wished he would do a sauce with them. It was the perfect opportunity!

This is the latest installment of DH’s quest for the perfect burger cook-off competition recipe. It’s from the book Char-Broil’s Everybody Grills! I’ve enjoyed having some time off from the kitchen, and surprisingly I’m not sick of burgers yet! Probably because these are all so different.
