A few weeks ago, I was talking with my husband about maybe taking a sabbatical from CSAs. We were agonizing over the decision. Then, I received an email that made my decision for me.
Note: I’m re-posting this article from last year. My last pickup was yesterday, and the feeling was bittersweet. On the one hand, I’m glad for a break. On the other, I’m really going to miss the weekly rhythm of picking up the product.

I was out of town Wednesday through Friday, so DH picked up this week’s share. FINALLY! You can now expect lots more recipes. As I said before, it’s been pretty hot and chilis and stews were just not appealing. But now I have lots of glorious green to play with! So what was waiting for me when I arrived at pickup?

CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is a system where you buy for a share at the beginning of the year, and then during the growing season you get 1-2 bags of fresh vegetables from the farm. While many CSAs have already started, those of us in Michigan have another month to go. So what should one do in the meantime, while anxiously awaiting that first pickup?
