Fruit Custard Pie

This is the second peach pie I made last weekend. How did it compare?

Yogurt Fruit Pie

This is one of those “whatever fruit you have will work” recipes from Simply in Season. Since I had a ton of peaches (as you’ll see throughout the rest of the week as I post several peach recipes) I decided to make a yogurt peach pie.

Banana Cream Brownie Squares (Longcut Version)

So, how did my “from scratch” rendition turn out?

Simply in Season suggests that this would be a great camping dish – and I agree! It would be fun for kids, too, to see the “dumplings” magically bake.

Fruit Platz

Simply in Season calls this “fruit by the yard.” I call it just plain good.

Mulberry (or any berry) Pudding Cake

When I saw this recipe in  Simply in Season I thought “yay, I have a mulberry tree!” Unfortunately the dogs love to eat the mulberries off the ground, and the birds eat the ones on the tree. So between them I don’t have many mulberries. I decided to substitute a mix of currants and blueberries instead for the 4th of July weekend.

So for the first FitJerk Friday, I was actually stumped. “What the hell should I start with?” Eventually, I settled on the concept of potential. Your potential specifically. What you are capable of achieving in your lifetime is so staggering, it might cause your brain to implode if {Read More}

Fit Jerk Friday – Happy New Year’s!

When FJ first asked me to create a meal based on the raw diet, I realized there are a lot of versions of raw diets. I finally figured out that he was talking mostly about a Paleo-type diet as described here. This menu might seem summery, but sometimes we need that here in Michigan! Main course: Grilled Fish DH helped me out here with his new smoker/grill thing. Basically he thawed some tilapia fillets, and layered lemon slices on top {Read More}
