I love it when DH gets inspired in the kitchen. Yesterday, he wanted to make beer cheese soup. It turned out delicious!

Drunken Asparagus with Feta and Prosciutto

DH came up with this recipe after we saw something similar at a local restaurant. The challenge was a homebrew party where you had to either make something with beer or pair it with beer. This recipe did both, and won 3rd place (as judged by Michigan Beer Blog).

Oktoberfest Beer Brats in 3 easy steps

Ok so DH tells me they’re not really “Oktoberfest” beer brats because he used his homemade IPA instead of an Oktoberfest beer, but I think these are a great addition to any Oktoberfest celebration! He also wanted me to be sure to tell you that his IPA was made only using his home grown Cascade hops.

DH recently won tickets to tour Founders Brewing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In spite of the owner being rather tight lipped about many of their trade secrets, we had a super good time! The owner also mentioned several times that they are very lucky, that most breweries don’t make it. That it is a lot of hard work, a lot of relationships with distributors. Great American Brew Trail: I’m gonna be famous!

We arrived right on time, and were warned that it was a taping session, so the menu would be limited and we might be asked to move around. We were A-OK with that!

OK not really, but my friend Amy Sherman is (the one who did the Valentine’s Dinner cooking class, and most of the cooking classes at the CSA last summer)! She’s the host, and we got to attend the taping at Saugatuck Brewing on Sunday. I’m not sure if DH and I were in any of the background shots, but they did take a photo of our table.
