
Once again it’s time to look through the archives, this time for apple recipes. While I do love a honeycrisp on its own, there are so many versatile uses for apples. Here are some of my favorite apple recipes:
Eating and living locally . . . mindfully . . . simply.

I had my doubts about this recipe. Sauerkraut? In soup? But I had all the ingredients, and Mark Bittman hasn’t steered me wrong yet. So I gave it a try.

There’s a recipe for pie crust in Simply in Season; however, I decided not to make it as sometimes nothing compares to the one your mother makes. She is famous for her tart cherry pies (will make you never want to eat canned sweet filling again). I haven’t been able to get that recipe out of her yet, but here is her apple pie, which is almost as good.

Another one of the recipes from Simply in Season that I looked at and said “huh?” But I’m glad I tried it, as this simple salad is refreshingly good.

“Are you making chicken vindaloo?” DH asked when I was making this. “Nope!” I said. But it sure did smell like an Indian restaurant when I was making this! The aromatic vegetables were just heavenly, even before I added the spices. Mmmm. Pin It

Some days, you aren’t hungry for dinner but want just a little something. It was one of those days that I decided to make Spicy Baked Apples from Simply in Season.
