Last week Thursday was my last foraging class; or, as our leader likes to call it, “wild weedy walk.” I almost didn’t go, because it had been a really stressful and hectic week. Last Saturday I canned a LOT of peaches. Even though I’ve canned before, there were a few lessons I learned that I thought I’d pass along so you don’t have to learn the hard way.

One of the ways I prepare for a cross-cultural experience is to remind myself of the worldview that I have. I am an American, and as such I have values and beliefs that seem odd to the rest of the world. I need to be aware of them (many are subconscious) so that I do not inadvertently judge the people who I will be meeting.
