It’s been awhile since I posted a book review, but The Big Book of Juices: More Than 400 Natural Blends for Health and Vitality Every Day was so good that I just had to share.
As the title indicates, it is BIG! When I was researching juicing books, this one kept getting recommended and now I know why. The introduction provides enough information for a beginner to get started without being overwhelming. The recipes are fabulous and not only includes recipes for juices but also smoothies, teas, and “other.” Although the bulk of the book is recipes, there is a wonderful appendix that includes sample juicing regimens and recommends different juices for different ailments.
I have tried 3-4 juices from this book so far and have loved every one.
I was always skeptical about juicing (why not just eat the vegetables and fruits), but when my CSA share threatened to take over the refrigerator I decided something had to be done – DH and I simply couldn’t eat that much. So I bought a juicer ( the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer – Black and Chrome in case you’re interested, I did a lot of research on that too!). And this book. And I’ve been juicing daily since. I haven’t been able to talk DH into trying it, but I have enjoyed juicing almost daily. It’s so awesome to plow through a bag of cabbage or lettuce, add a cucumber and apple, and drink your vegetables!
Do you juice? What are some of your favorite recipes?
