For today’s nourishing act, I mailed in the deposit for Groundswell Farm CSA.
You might remember that I was on a sabbatical last summer when the CSA I was a part of (Trillium Haven Farm) took a sabbatical to open a restaurant. I was tired of performing vegetable triage. I wanted to have the freedom to go to the farmers market and buy whatever looked good.
Unfortunately, I found it much easier to sleep in on Saturdays than fight the crowds at the farmers market most weekends. We ate a LOT fewer vegetables. I lost my inspiration for cooking. My garden was an epic failure (except for the beans and tomatoes). So this year, I decided to sign up again.
Another bonus is that this CSAs pickup location is at a homeless shelter, so anything I don’t think we’ll eat will be donated to those who can use it.
I feel really good about our decision.
