Things I Love Thursday: Wine Clubs! {Giveaway & Discount Code}

I’ve been a member of Black Star’s wine club for five years now. It feels like Christmas every three months when we get our shipment. So when California Wine Club asked me to review their wines, I jumped at the chance!

Now, I’m sure my regular readers are saying “What? She drinks non-Michigan wine?” Yes, I have to admit that I do, on occasion. Besides, I realize that not all of you have local wine, so I decided to branch out a bit.

One of the things I fell in love with immediately about the California Wine Club is that they feature wines by small boutique wineries, and the pamphlet that comes with the shipment tells their story. I love reading about how the owners got started and their approach to making wine.

The shipment I received included wine from Bixler Vineyards – a white and a red. At first the red seemed a bit too oaky, but then after it had a chance to breathe, it opened up quite a bit and had quite a nice flavor. The white was very drinkable, perfect on the patio. I didn’t drink them with food, just on their own, although the package did come with a nice wine and food pairing guide.

If you’d like to give the wine of the month concept a try, the California Wine Club memberships are $36.45 per month plus shipping, handling and applicable sales tax. If you like what you get and want more, you can reorder at a discounted rate. The shipment includes two bottles of wine plus the nice brochure about the winery.

One of the best things is being able to try new wines without standing for hours in the wine aisle!

Disclosure: I received a free wine shipment. All opinions and memories of drinking this excellent wine on the porch are my own.
