Eating and living locally . . . mindfully . . . simply.

I fear that being green has become a trend and that we’ve forgotten why we want to be green in the first place.

“Simple celebrations can be joyful and rich events, focusing on relationships, faith, and time spent together rather than on gifts, matching decor, spotless floors, and elegant foods.” — Rebecca Seiling, Living More with Less

One of my fellow food bloggers contacted me a few months ago and asked if I could share “baby steps” to cooking real food since I’m a middle of the road blogger; she said she doesn’t even know how to relate to people who aren’t on the far end of the real food spectrum. I wasn’t entirely sure whether to take that as a compliment or not.

I have some disappointing news; I’m actually up a few pounds this week. I had fast food a couple of times. I didn’t exercise. I’ve been stressed. But I have taken steps to get back on track.

When I started writing this challenge as a way to force myself to think through the principles presented in the book Living More with Less, I wondered if I would get bored. 16 weeks, that’s 4 months! I can say that I haven’t gotten bored, and I have found it meaningful as a personal exercise.
