I can’t believe I forgot to review the Clinton St. Baking Company Cookbook: Breakfast, Brunch & Beyond from New York’s Favorite Neighborhood Restaurant when I made the po’boy sandwiches from it a few weeks ago. Duh! I had received a review copy from the publisher and they kindly offered an additional giveaway copy for one of my readers.

Holly’s Best Breads: Basic French Loaf

As you may have figured out from some of my earlier posts, I did not grow up eating food made from scratch. My mom is a good cook, but definitely used boxed mixes and convenience items. So where did I get the idea to eat real food? DH would blame my friend and former co-worker Holly. She’s the one who told me about kombucha, turned her front lawn into a garden, and made a believer of raw milk out of me when she brought fromage blanc to work.

My friends at Collective Bias issued another challenge: make something in a slow cooker, using Frank’s Red Hot sauce. I decided to combine it with my Dark Days Challenge and created the following recipe, which turned out great if I do say so myself.

Decluttering, making space for God in the New Year

I hope each and every one of you had a Merry Christmas! I had so much fun visiting with my parents, sisters and their families. It’s amazing how fast nieces and nephews grow up (especially my sister’s children who live in New York and whom I don’t see very much). Even time spent with my [...]

Have Yourself a Simple Little Christmas . . .

After writing today’s post in the Simple Living series, I decided to practice what I preach and take a blogging break. Next week I’m taking a vacation from my 8-5 job (and will be trying really hard to ignore the emails on my Blackberry!) and so I decided that now would be a good time to take a break from posting. Don’t worry, I’ll be back Monday Dec. 27.
