Root Vegetable Gratin with Gruyere

gratin (2)

Collective Bias sponsored a recipe swap, and luckily I was paired with my friend from What Megan’s Making. When she sent me the recipe, she said that she had seen celery root at Meijer; I told her that I happened to have one in my refrigerator from my CSA (they last forever, it seems). “Only you would have celery root already in your refrigerator,” she said. We had a good laugh, and I set off to get the rest of the ingredients.

I’ve been wanting to do a video for awhile now; in fact, I bought a little camera last summer. But it took accidentally signing up to do a video about Frank’s Red Hot through Collective Bias that made me finally do it! Please, be gentle.

As soon as I saw this recipe in The Food Matters Cookbook: 500 Revolutionary Recipes for Better Living I knew it fit the bill.

On the Road Again – New Orleans!

Just a quick note to let you know I’m in New Orleans! I hope to resume regularly scheduled blogging when I return on Wednesday. I have lots of root vegetables and a huge basket of purple potatoes to cook when I get home so you’ll get to see what I make with them. Happy cooking!

Eating Locally in San Diego

I’ll be attending the FoodBuzz blogger festival this weekend, which I’m sure will be full of tempting treats! So I’ve been determined to not eat junk on this trip. I really wasn’t sure how to find a good restaurant, so I just Googled “local food San Diego.” Lucky for me there was an award-winning farm to table restaurant nearby!
