Eat Local, West Michigan!

DH browses the menu at Ramona's Table

It recently occurred to me that many of you might not know that I’m in the process of launching another blog, www.eatlocalwestmichigan.com.

My vision for Eat Local West Michigan is that it will gather information about the local food scene in West Michigan, including restaurant reviews, farmer’s market info, beer and wine tasting events, cooking workshops, a directory, a calendar, and more. However, as you visit the site, you’ll notice that I have a LOT of work to do! Can I blame it on the fact that I can’t seem to find the right WordPress plugins to run the directory the way I want to? Which has been more than frustrating. But that’s probably more technical detail than you care to know. I am quite active on Twitter though, for which I’ve also created a separate account @eatlocalwmi.

The reason I decided to make it a separate blog is because I’m sure that if you don’t live in West Michigan, reading about events and restaurants you won’t ever go to would be super dull. The same reasoning went into deciding to make a separate Twitter account. If you live in Denver, do you really care what the lunch special is at Marie Catrib’s?

However if you DO live in West Michigan, I hope you’ll hop on over to check it out.

I love this idea! I’m originally from Muskegon and there are a few restaurants I have to go to every time I’m home, but it’d be nice to find out about some other places around!

I may be from Virginia, but this is such a cool idea. Subscribing to a CSA this year has made me more conscious of local food, and I wish we had a similar resource for the area!

How cool! I grew up in Grand Rapids and still have family all over West Michigan…I live just 5 mins over the Indiana border, so I’m very close and there all the time…Very cool!
