Food & Faith Challenge: Now What? {Reader clicky poll!}

Sprout.

I enjoyed reading everyone’s guest posts and responses to the issues we talked about in the Food & Faith Challenge, and I hope you did too. Now that the series is over, I’d like to continue the conversation in a less structured way. Please take a moment to let me know what issues you are interested in, so that I know where to start.

You Don’t Have to Wear Hemp Underwear: Book Review

Yes, there really is a book with the title You Don’t Have to Wear Hemp Underwear. When the publisher contacted me about doing a review and giveaway, I was a bit skeptical. But I couldn’t resist the title.

Grilled Sausages with Baby Turnips and Turnip Greens

So I had these spring turnips from the CSA pickup and no recipes in Simply In Season that called for them. Lucky me, I have a couple of cookbooks in my “to review” pile. I found a recipe in Eating Local: The Cookbook Inspired by America’s Farmers that sounded good. (Look for the review next Friday!)

Apple Lentil Salad

When Marx Foods offered up some petite golden lentils for bloggers to sample, I knew right away I’d use them for Apple Lentil Salad from Simply in Season. What better way to showcase them?

Rhubarb Strawberry Jam

I was a bit intimidated by the prospect of making this jam, but it was in Simply In Season so I had to make it.

Sausage and Greens Soup

Tahini Dressing 1/3 cup sesame tahini 3 Tbs.  soy sauce 3 Tbs. vinegar 1/2 bunch parsley, {Read More}

Buckwheat Pancakes

This was the last remaining pancake recipe from Simply in Season. Which is kind of a good thing, since in the summer I always have herbs and greens that I need to use up, and the easiest way to do that is in scrambled eggs. But sometimes, pancakes and waffles are what we’re craving for breakfast. My Dad used to make us buckwheat pancakes every morning before school.

Top 10 Things to Do with Random Vegetables

People sometimes complain about getting only a single zucchini or tomato in their CSA box. What can I do with just one? They ask. Oh, the things you can do with just a few seemingly random vegetables! Here are my top 10:

Herbed Croutons

croutons

If you ever find yourself with stale bread or bread that didn’t quite turn out, make croutons! This is a great way to save money and they’re so much healthier than store-bought.
