I love this post as it is so touching and meaningful. It truly is wonderful to think about our bodies and health from a Christian point of view and to consider God's plan. This was never so clear to me as this past weekend when I was battling the flu. I haven't been so sick in ages! Now that it's been 2 days, I'm able to think about what I was doing/eating/not doing that may have caused my body to not battle off the virus. It all boiled down to the fact that I haven't been eating nearly as healthy as I should (a chocolate chip cookie--homemade of course--at 8:00 in the morning with a cup of coffee; yikes!), exercising regularly or getting enough sleep. I firmly believe those poor choices really did a number to my body. Now, that I'm able to slowly introduce food and drink back into my system, I'm listening to my gut and letting it guide me. And I'll tell you, the fresh, stir-fried veggies last night tasted a whole lot better than the small bite of cookie I had with lunch today. Thank you for the great series! I always anxiously await the next installment!

As author Michael Pollan put it, "Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize." (Imagine her seeing Go-Gurt squeezing out of the tube, "What is that? Glue?") With obesity, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes rates climbing, you'd think more people would make the connection between processed food and chronic (preventable!) diseases.

My parents tried to teach us the healthy eating from the garden, but as soon as I left home, I started eating and being unhealthy. We are now trying to "turn back time" and grow our own food and teach our children healthy ways to raise our grandchildren! We are teaching our grands about how God wants us to eat and be out in the fresh air and exercise and play more to be healthy! Our oldest grandson, 10yo, is enjoying the garden and the chicks and helping his father learn what we did not teach him as a child! Thank you for the thought of being "not hungry" instead of being full - that may help us in eating better portions at mealtime!

This post is beautiful.

I love the direct role we can play in creation just by putting out hands in the dirt and helping little green seedlings along. If I feel amazing watching my little green friends grow up, how must G-d feel watching us? If I stress over the frost warnings or the threat of box elder bugs, how must G-d feel when we are threatened by poor choices? If I can put my hands in the dirt He created (and called good), then I can touch Him, see Him, hold Him close. I can't get that feeling from a plastic bag.

The ultimate expression of faith is organic free food, which I rely upon, at http://organicfreefood.blog.com/

We are called to exercise dominion over our food, and answering that call is the first step in eating responsibly!
