Don’t mind me as I move that huge stack of cookbooks – I’m kind of a book and cookbook junkie. I’ve recently joined a Slow Food Book club which is super fun. See that ratty looking cookbook on the top of the stack? That’s Simply in Season, and I’m trying to cook every recipe in it by the end of August. I was drowning in vegetables from my CSA (Community Supported Agriculture, where you get 1-2 bags of produce every week from a farm), and I thought you know, I really need to cook more. Simply in Season has tons of great recipes in it, why don’t I try to cook from that instead of hunting through my many, many cookbooks? Then I heard about Julie & Julia, and thought I’d start a blog.
What a fun adventure it’s been! Simply in Season also includes little stories and anecdotes and essays about eating locally, in season. Besides taste, there are lots of great reasons to do so – especially from a biblical perspective. In order to explore those issues I’ve started a Food & Faith Challenge. I hope you can join us.

Hi! Visiting from UBP and I’ll have to dig around and take a taste. Your blog looks delicious! We’re on year two of our teeny family porch garden so we can eat what we grow…or grow what we eat. Anyway it’s potatoes, carrots, onions, lettuce, cucumbers, strawberries and lots of tomatoes. I’ll be bookmarking you!

Hi Wendy, thanks so much for stopping by my blog! I am such a cookbook junkie too. I am trying to learn to eat what’s in season here on my island, so it’s meaning a lot of tropical fruit! Yum! I would join a CSA but I don’t think they do that here. But at least there’s a big weekly farmers’ market! I’m going to follow your blog.

Absolutely ? everything about your site! To start off with, Food & Faith challenge? How awesome! I’ll take the coffee and brownie. Ugh, I think I gained 10 just from reading this one post. I love veggies sooo much. I just recently started putting avacado on every single sandwich! My boys on the other hand are under the impression that their death is at hand if a veggie makes its way onto their plate.
