Before we proceed to the recipe, I’d like to give a shout-out to Marx Foods. You remember from my mushroom pasta post that I no longer have a mushroom hunting spot, and that I tried to substitute dried mushrooms from Costco. DH complained that the mushrooms were a little chewy (although the flavor was awesome). Marx Foods to the rescue!

Fresh From the Farm: Great Local Foods from New York State

freshfromthefarm

I remember the first time I drove through New York. I was a sophomore in high school, headed out to a youth convention in Rhode Island. I remember seeing the rolling hills and farmland and thinking, “This is New York?” I have since learned that New York is home to a lot of beautiful farmland, and my sister lives with her family at Word of Life Bible Camp near Schroon Lake. I haven’t made it out there to visit yet {Read More}

Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies

In reviewing Fresh From the Farm: Great Local Foods From New York State I noticed a recipe for chocolate chip cookies. At first glance I thought “who needs another chocolate chip cookie recipe?” All these years I’ve just used the back of the Nestle’ package of chocolate chips. But I thought I’d give this recipe a try, as they are Tate’s signature item. (Tate’s is a Bake Shop in Long Island).

Grilled Maple Barbecue Chicken

I am SO ready for the spring recipes in Simply in Season. Alas, I have a few of the winter recipes remaining. However, I’ve noticed that things like beets and apples and carrots will be available in the summer as well, so as long as I don’t get too far behind in the total number of recipes, I may just indulge myself with a few of these springtime dishes before finishing the winter recipes. I jut can’t help it. DH {Read More}

Oven Fries

Skip the drive-thru, those overly salty grease sticks can’t compare to homemade sweet potato fries!

This is what happens when I go to Costco on an empty stomach

IMG_1297

I was grocery shopping on an empty stomach, so tempted by all the processed foods. I was tempted to hit a drive thru. I knew I wouldn’t have time to cook what I had originally planned to make for lunch. Then, the jar of marinated artichokes was calling me . . .
