Good question! Of course, I can't help but see these things as related. Everything is connected... and the way we choose to treat our bodies (temples) is a huge indicator of our faith. What we choose to put into our bodies says something about who we are and what we value.

I absolutely think that choosing food is spiritual! After hearing about the horrors of factory farming for the first time, I immediately thought, "How can we do this to our fellow creatures?" After all, God himself teaches us to be compassionate and kind to all beings. Yet we painfully torture and slaughter billions of his creations each year. I know, with every ounce of my being, that this inhumane food system is not how he intended us to use his animals.

I've posted my thoughts on this topic in the past, if anyone is interested: http://www.powered-by-produce.com/category/religion/

We look to religion for guidance in so many other areas of our lives - why not eating? Thanks for bringing up this topic - it is certainly worth discussion!
